Improvement of Environmental Condition Storm Water Disposal System & Lake Development
Since the land use in this area was agriculture, each village featured a natural lake which was maintained by the village and which was fed by natural drains draining the surrounding area.

•Urban Development and change in land use took its toll on the lakes due to the blocking of the natural drains feeding the lakes

•The natural drains which were leading to the lakes are now obstructed  or got silted due to the urban development.
NEED OF PROJECT
•Blocking of the drains led to inundation of many areas during rainy season, while the lakes were deprived of their share of run off water.

•It has been planned to develop the drainage to lakes and also use the storage capacity for diversion of storm water which can relieve the flooding in urban area to some extent.

•They need to be developed by means of under ground drainage and linked to the lakes and on wards to other lakes in the catchments on wards to the natural major drains and river sabarmati.

•Incidentally this water bodies will also act as holding ponds and relieve the pressure of storm water flooding in area of the city during monsoon.

•Construction of catchments drainage network around the water body to harvest the runoff into the lake depression.
Improvement of Environmental Conditions- Something Unique
Storm Water Pipe line has been designed in such a manure so that all lakes are interlinked.

• Excess Water will automatically flow towards other lakes.

1)Interlinking of lakes through underground pipe line Rs.105 crore
2)Lake Development (44 lakes) Rs.110 crore
